TMO Barley and Wheat Purchases Continue in Malatya

Ramazan Özcan, Chairman of the Board of the Malatya Commodity Exchange, stated that the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) is continuing its barley and wheat procurement operations using an appointment-based system; he noted that a high yield is expected this year and that the TMO will purchase the entire harvest from the province.
Chairman Özcan indicated that producers are not experiencing any issues regarding appointments.
Ramazan Özcan, Chairman of the Malatya Commodity Exchange, and Şeref Aslan, Malatya Branch Manager of the Turkish Grain Board, visited the TMO’s barley and wheat procurement sites.
After receiving information about operations at the wheat procurement points, Malatya Commodity Exchange Chairman Ramazan Özcan stated that the Turkish Grain Board would once again operate at over 600 locations across Turkey, just as it has in the past.
Chairman Özcan noted that the appointment-based procurement system would continue to be implemented at all procurement points, including contracted licensed warehouses.
Stating that the agricultural sector has entered a period of intense activity with the start of the new harvest season, Chairman Özcan said, "I wish a bountiful and auspicious harvest season to all our farmers who toil on the land and contribute to our country's food supply security through their production. I hope this new season brings good fortune to our producers, our sector, and our country." In his statement, President Özcan noted the following:
"Barley harvesting began in our province a week ago, and wheat harvesting has now commenced in the Arguvan region. To ensure that our producers and livestock farmers do not suffer any losses, the TMO Malatya Branch is continuing to purchase the barley and wheat harvested in Malatya. A high yield is expected this year; this is of great strategic importance for both our country and our province. The TMO will continue its periodic purchasing of all barley and wheat produced in our province this year. There are no issues regarding appointment scheduling; furthermore, the TMO processes all scheduled grain deliveries within the same day."

Every farmer who applies delivers their produce to the locations and collection points designated by the TMO Malatya Branch Directorate. We anticipate a high yield of barley and wheat this year. As stated by our President, TMO purchasing operations will continue until the day the final crop is harvested.
