THE LIVESTOCK INDUSTRIAL ZONE ESTABLISHED IN MALATYA WILL PROVIDE ANNUAL ANIMAL HUSBANDRY RAISING FOR 50,000 CATTLE.

A contract was signed in 2022 for the construction of a livestock organized industrial zone on 3,200 acres in the Mısırdere neighborhood. Following infrastructure work in the area, the land allocation process for investors was initiated.

While land has been allocated to 50 businesses out of a total of 99 planned in the zone, negotiations are ongoing for the remaining 49.

The businesses to be established in the zone will be able to simultaneously raise 16,750 head of cattle. The calves will be fattened for a certain period before being sent for slaughter. Thanks to the annual production cycle, a total of 50,000 calves are expected to be raised.

Malatya Chamber of Commerce President Ramazan Özcan stated that the livestock organized industrial zone will strengthen the city's livestock infrastructure. Özcan stated that the industrial zone does not consist solely of livestock breeding areas, adding:
"This is not just an organized livestock industrial zone, but also an integrated production complex. The area will include cold storage facilities, cold chain infrastructure, a 5-megawatt solar power plant, a biogas plant, and a roughage factory. This will ensure that all the services investors need are offered in the same area."

PRODUCTION WILL BE CONDUCTED ACCORDING TO EUROPEAN UNION STANDARDS

Özcan stated that the businesses to be established in the region will operate according to European Union standards, and that production will be carried out in a planned and periodic manner.
Özcan said, "A continuous production cycle will be created as the animals complete their fattening process and are ready for slaughter. Thanks to this system, a total of 50,000 head of cattle will be raised annually."
Stating that an average of around 4,000 head of cattle are slaughtered monthly in Malatya, Özcan indicated that the city has significant potential in the red meat sector. Özcan stated that the support provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to the sector has increased investments, and emphasized that the facility will make a significant contribution to the supply of red meat.
