Malatya Commodity Exchange Chairman Ramazan Özcan stated that the export figures of dried apricots are pleasing and said that in March this year, 23 million 411 thousand 385 dollars were obtained in return for 8,836 tons of exports.
Making a statement to journalists from the stock exchange building, Özcan stated that the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic that started in China recently occupied the agenda of Turkey and the world.
Emphasizing that a revenue of 23 million 411 thousand 385 dollars was obtained in return for 8 thousand 836 tons of exports in March of this year, Özcan said, "We continue to work to ensure that production does not stop, especially in the agricultural sector. The export of dried apricots in March, which everyone is waiting for, will make our country and Malatya smile. Our export figure of dried apricots in March of last year was 8 thousand 300 tons, and our export figure of dried apricots in March of this year was 8 thousand 836 tons. Compared to last year's March, our export figure has increased by approximately 450 tons. This is the face of our country and our city. It was a laughable number." he spoke
Pointing out that there are partial problems in exports in some European countries, but an increase in export figures is observed in other markets, Özcan continued as follows:
"However, there is a significant increase in our exports in the USA, Algeria, Belarus, Australia and Egypt. We have both closed this stagnant picture in Europe with the countries we mentioned and increased our exports. When we look at the current table, one of the reasons for the increase in dried apricot exports. "It has been revealed that people increase their consumption of dried apricots. We expect our export figures to increase in parallel with this in April. We see that the Covid-19 epidemic has increased in Europe, especially in countries such as Italy, Spain, Germany, and we see a stagnant picture in these countries. USA, Algeria, Belarus."
